I'm grateful for several things today:
First, that when my car died, it was not mid-span on the Port Mann bridge, but in the curb lane on Grandview Highway and Nanaimo Street. Secondly, that I remembered to charge up my cell phone and bring it with me. Thirdly, that I had the foresight to be a member of BCAA for all these years, even though I've only needed their services a couple of times. And lastly, that the problem was not something major and costly.

I was driving along merrily in my newly fixed up auto, when the light changed and I stopped (in the curb lane, luckily). Then I realized the car had gotten very, very quiet; no sound of engine, no radio, nothing. It just died. Oh, great. I was now that person who blocks the road causing traffic to back up and people to glare at me as they drove by. There were nice folks who stopped to ask if I needed help; one man wanted to push my car around the corner with his truck (I refused, politely. Didn't need a scratched up bumper, too.) A young woman came out of her apartment building to check if I was okay. I was thankful for their concern. I called BCAA, and the very nice woman on the other end of the line sent a tow truck ASAP, and because I've been such a long term member, she didn't charge me the extra towing fee. Good thing, because the tow truck driver took me back to the Hondashop by the most circuitous route I could imagine; I have no idea why he did, other than padding the mileage. We got safely to the garage, and I got a lift home to await the verdict. Turned out that my battery had just up and expired without notice. New battery put in, bill paid, and I was on my way once again. That was some good luck, for sure.

I do hope this is it for my car woes for quite awhile!

I made it out to the farm, a little later than I'd planned, but I made it, there and back.
