Sunday notes
Apr. 10th, 2011 08:51 pmI spent the afternoon out at the farm; it was rainy and gray and a bit chilly, and all the horses were inside snug in their stalls. When I got there Kelly had all the work done, and Jack and Sue were out, so I had time to spend grooming the horses. I got Orca done; poor fellow was thrilled to get all that loose hair scraped off him. The horses get so itchy with all the shedding of hair, and will scrape themselves on any useful item, including humans. LOL. I got enough hair off him to stuff a pillow. Then I worked on Florie a little; her mane and tail are so long and tangled we're going to have quite a job detangling. I put a big gob of Cowboy Magic on her tail, and got most of the tangles out before she'd had enough. Then I turned Kyra out in the arena for a run before I started working on her. She's not as furry as some of the others, being an older horse and also having a really warm blanket. Kelly looked at her teeth and figures she's a little younger than I had estimated; probably around 18. I figured she was more like 20; still one of our senior horses. I fed everybody dinner, checked all the waters, made sure the kittens were locked in the tack room all snug, then headed on home.
When I got home, the apartment smelled wonderful. I had put some beef stew on to cook in my slow cooker this morning, and it was so nice to come home to a hot dinner with such little effort on my part. I really must use my slow cooker more often! The chuck steak was falling apart tender and the vegetables were done just right. Very yummy dinner. I have a pot of cauliflower soup on right now, making it for lunch tomorrow.
Now I'm going to settle in and watch some TV: The Bourne Identity is on Bravo, and I've been half watching it. Time to pay a little more attention, it's getting exciting.
That's my Sunday.
