A word before bedtime.
Mar. 29th, 2012 10:51 pmThat word would be...exhausted. Today was one of those days when my energy wasn't super high and I had to just keep pressing on to get through all the work I had to do. It was a horrible, rainy day, so pushing wheelbarrows up the manure pile was harder than usual. All the horses had to stay in, and thank heavens we didn't put them out because the rain was absolutely torrential at times. I dug out my Australian Outback oilskin coat after my jacket started dripping water..on the inside. I'd forgotten that I'd hung the coat in the office last year, so was very glad to find it again. It's a bit stiff to work in, but it sure keeps me dry.
We've started Dusty's training; the trainer who rides her sister Goldie came today to work with her and start her getting used to having a saddle and rider on her back. She was a very good girl, and after a few bucks when the saddle went on, she just stood and let M. get on and off three times. We can't wait for next year when the two sisters will be going off to the shows together!
I was glad to get home and relax. Watched the World Figure Skating Championships, Ice Dancing tonight. It was wonderful. Great skating from the top five teams, especially Virtue and Moier of Canada, and Davis and White from the USA.
Time to go crawl into my bed....I can hardly keep my eyes open. Have to go to work in the morning, and 6 a.m. comes way too early for this night owl. I just hope I don't have the patient I had yesterday and the day before; not that he was difficult or anything, but he weighs 190kg...that would be 418 pounds, and trying to turn him and do any kind of nursing care is really hard. It took six of us to turn him so we could change his sheets. I swear his leg weighed as much as I do. Ow. I have to say that doing all that physical work out at the farm has given me decent upper body strength, but I'm not superwoman.
Budget Day today in Canada. Oh, noes! they're going to get rid of the penny. I get it, it costs more to make it than it's worth, but I have a sentimental attachment to the copper coin.
Off to bed, dreams of pennies dancing ahead. LOL.
