Text neck..
Apr. 21st, 2012 09:41 pmYou've heard of text neck? that pain in the neck caused by hours of staring down at your little smart phone? I don't have that, but I do have (ouch) the crafters' equivalent: cross stitch neck. I've been working on my cross stitching project, and after a frustrating bit of pulling apart the rows that I screwed up, I looked up and just about passed out from the pain in my neck. Who would have thought that the human head was so heavy?
Cross stitching can be so engrossing when I really get going; it's a real exercise in being in the moment. I have spent hours working on a project, and sometimes I've been in a position that wasn't very comfortable but I'm too caught up in the work to change it, not to mention the countless cups of tea I've let go cold. I'm one of those enthusiasts who gets obsessed, works like crazy for awhile, then puts down the project for months. I have a lot of half finished things in the bag, waiting for that next burst of creative energy.
It was a beautiful day today. We had chocolate cake and tea to celebrate Jack's birthday. It was yummy.
Jack weed whacked my garden plot for me this afternoon. The buttercups and dandelions had totally taken it over, because I didn't plant a garden last summer. This year I'm going to at least get in a small salad garden, nothing too terribly ambitious. Sue said the barn cats, Smokey and Stripey, are going to be very disappointed, because they loved to hide in the tall weeds in the garden and wait for passing mice (or bugs). Sorry, girls, it's going to be the hunt for slugs next. Don't know if I could interest the cats in that, though.
Time to get up and stretch, before I get sore wrists to go along with my sore neck. The old joints stiffen up pretty fast these days. Where did I put that oil can anyway?
:P
