Slept in! Lately I've had trouble sleeping because the tendinitis in my shoulder seems worse at night, and I keep waking up from the pain. Last night I iced the shoulder and then took some ibuprofen and a benadryl, drank a cup of warm milk and went to bed. Hooray! I slept like a baby. Sounds like a plan worth repeating tonight. It's amazing how much better I feel after a good night's sleep.
Since I wasn't planning on going out to the farm, I had a lazy kind of day. A leisurely read of the paper, and a few good cups of coffee took care of most of the morning. This afternoon I went to the library (didn't find anything to read), did a little grocery shopping, a couple of loads of laundry, and made a pot of cauliflower cheese soup. Spent quality time with the cats, read some, drank tea and ate several little pecan tarts, then made dinner.
I had a very nice day.
Last night I went to Ancestry.com and found out what my father's mother's maiden name was. I never knew it, because she never spoke about her family. She married Grandpa when she was 16, and I think she came from a very unhappy home. Perhaps that's why she was such a miserable woman. My Grandpa was the sweetest man, and I never understood their relationship, but I know my mother disliked her mother-in-law for a number of reasons, not least of which was the fact that Grandma favoured my uncle over my father. Families sure are complicated. I think I may have to do some more research. I know more about my mother's side of the family than my father's, and I'd like to find out more...who knows? Maybe I'm related to someone famous. Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm related to Captain Kirk, AKA Chris Pine...I think he's a several times removed cousin. Fascinating stuff. I've always been interested in history, and family trees could lead to some interesting history.
