Poor old Honda..
Jun. 28th, 2013 08:26 pmShe's been consigned to the automotive graveyard. The repair shop looked at the damage, talked to ICBC, and the short answer is that it's going to cost more than the car is worth to fix it, so ICBC is writing it off. Damn, damn. I really didn't want to hear that, but that's the way the ball bounces...or in this case, the way the truck bounced off the bumper. I'll get a cheque from the insurance company for a few thousand, and they'll pay for a rental car for a few weeks while I look for a new car. So did not want to have to go there.
However: the car is 17 years old, has mega mileage, is starting to suck up gas like crazy, and is at that point where the cost of keeping it on the road is beginning to meet the point of diminishing returns. I'd sort of accepted the fact that I need a newer car, but didn't want to do it right now, so I'm not that upset. I just hate the hassle of looking for a car. I have to talk to the insurance adjuster and get it sorted out next week. It's the long weekend, so nothing will happen until Tuesday. I have the courtesy car til then, so at least I have nice wheels for the weekend!
Poor old Honda. You served me well. :sigh:
