Sam's Very Bad Day
Jan. 6th, 2014 08:22 pmPoor Sam cat. He had a very bad day today. Started off with a whole night without food, because Mom took it away for some reason. Then this morning she brought out the dreaded cat cage and chased him around the apartment until he hid under the bed. Then she got the broom and poked him in the rear end until he went out the other side and got stuck under the rocking chair. Then he was grabbed and stuffed into the cat cage; it felt like he was being stuffed like a sausage because the cage is just a bit on the smallish side. Then he got carried down the stairs with Mom panting and puffing because he was heavy; poor boy was kind of scared she would drop him. Then he got delivered to the Veterinarian, given medicine that made him go to sleep, and when he woke up they had taken out one of his teeth! Now he had stitches and a sore mouth. He got to wait all afternoon in a big cage underneath his towel until Mom came to get him. She hauled him upstairs and let him out of the cage, but then she made him take some yucky medicine. He went and hid under the bed for awhile, then he came out to get some food and Mom gave him some pain medicine that made him feel kinda weird. Not the best day he's ever had. Poor Sam cat.
(Sam's mom had a better day than he did. After I dropped Sam off (OMG, that boy is so going on a diet. I thought I'd put my back out carrying his cage.) I went out to the farm. It's day 5 since Kelly quit without notice, and we've been doing okay. The woman who boards her horse with us very kindly came out and helped with the stalls on the weekend; she gave up part of her holiday to help us. Today it was just Sue and me, but we got through all the stalls and were done everything by 3 p.m. so I could get back to get Sam. Tomorrow we do it again, but Sue found a very nice young woman with lots of experience working with horses to come work for us. There are a lot of people out there looking for work, it turns out. We had several applicants come to see us over the weekend, and Sue picked the one she thought would be the best fit for us. I'm happy to do the work, but doing it every day is pretty tiring. Luckily the weather has been good.)
Sam is feeling a little better. He just came out and let me pet him. I think maybe I'm forgiven!
