Singing in the rain...

midnightsjaneApparently that's what we have to do here to stay out of the doldrums. One of the front page stories in today's ironically named Vancouver Sun was about this being close to setting the record for the lowest June temperatures in recorded history, with more rain and cold to come. Blah.
In better news, the paper also had an article that lists the best places in the G20 nations to be a woman: Number one is Canada, followed by Germany, Great Britain, and Australia. At the bottom of the list are Saudi Arabia and India. Canada leads because of (and I quote)"its promotion of women's access and opportunities across various sectors of society, including education, economic participation and health care". Makes me glad to know I chose the right country to get born in. Still, we have lots of work to do here to make it a truly equal opportunity country for all of us.
It's a day off for me; I have a mountain of laundry that needs doing, an apartment that could really use some elbow grease,or at least a run over the carpets with the vacuum. I'm truly amazed by the amount of hair my cats can shed without going bald. However, I'm going to blow off the work for now and go out for lunch. My youngest brother and his wife are in town for a couple of days for some kind of conference. They're staying at a swanky hotel on the waterfront, so I'm heading downtown to meet them for lunch. I haven't seen them for at least 2 years, so I'm looking forward to it. They live back east, and we're not the best family at keeping in touch. Now I have to find something clean to wear. Should have done laundry, I guess. LOL
At least I haven't packed up all my winter clothes yet. Looks like a good day for a cosy sweater or three.
