midnightsjaneTime flies by and I realize it's been a week since I posted anything here other than the odd comment. I have the best intentions, but get easily distracted by other stuff like life, you know? Busy just seems to be the theme of my days.
It's raining! Finally. It was so hot and humid today I was a wilted mess by the time I finished cleaning the paddocks and cleaning all the water barrels. I stopped at Tim Hortons' on the way home and bought myself a big mixed berry and yogurt smoothy. So yummy and cold. Got an ice cream headache because I tried to drink it too fast.
I took a couple of cuttings from the old kiwi fruit bush (the one that got pulled up because it was in the way of the new septic field) and I'm going to try to get it to root. It would be great to have a new generation kiwi bush, because I really liked the old one. Gave us lots of little kiwis too. Does anyone have any hints for getting cuttings to grow strong roots?
I'm making plans for a trip back to Ontario next month. My aunt and uncle are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, and we're having a big family get together to mark the occasion. Aunt Ruth is my mother's sister, the last of her generation. The last time I saw her was a couple of years ago at my mother's memorial service, and she's 85 now. I decided I had better go to the dinner because I don't know how many other times I'll have to see her. It will be good to see my brothers and sisters again too. I have to start checking out flights to Ottawa; hopefully I can get a good deal. My sister Mary Anne lives just outside Ottawa, so I'm going to visit her and drive down with them to Aunt Ruth's. I've never been to Ottawa. I haven't been away on any kind of holiday in 3 years, so I'm looking forward to it.
Oh, just flipping through the channels; found Star Trek on at the scene where Kirk meets Spock Prime. I'm so excited about seeing the new movie! can't wait. BTW, have you seen that commercial with Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto? I just about fell off the couch laughing. :P
