One of the biggest foodie trends is eating what is produced locally, and it's something I am embracing. The ultimate local produce is from one's own garden, but sadly this year I haven't had time or space to grow a garden of my own. But there is an abundance of wonderful local vegetables and fruits available, so I'm making the most of the season. I bought the first of the peaches and cream corn on the cob from Chilliwack the other day, and it is so sweet and delicious, topped with butter and a little salt, yumm. I've been making almost daily visits to a local berry farm on my way home from the farm to buy strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. They also have farm fresh veggies for sale, so today I bought a big bag of green beans and some really nice Havarti cheese made by a Langley cheese producer.

I love food, and I love to cook, so this is a great time of year for me. For dinner I cooked a wild sockeye salmon filet, with baby new potatoes, the corn, and the green beans. Very tasty, and healthy too.

For dessert I had some beautiful Okanagan cherries.

Am I making you hungry? Come on over, and I'll cook you dinner!
