On a happier note
Sep. 2nd, 2011 11:43 pmI was reintroduced to an old concept today: the full service gas station. I'm so used to pumping my own gas, cleaning the windows, checking the oil, etc. that I'd almost forgotten such a thing existed at one time.
I was driving home and stopped for gas at the Otter Co-op station on Fraser Highway. Pulled next to a pump and got out, almost bumping into a man standing right beside the gas pump. He looked at me, didn't say anything, I looked at him and wondered what was going on; then I saw the sign saying "Full service, same price as self service". I said tentatively, "$20 regular, please" and lo and behold, he started pumping the gas! Then a young woman came up and literally took the window squeegie thing right out of my hand and cleaned the windshield for me, front and back. Will wonders never cease?
It really was kind of cool.
I stopped at Walmart on my way home and bought myself a big box of those frozen cream puffs I like so much. Then I got home and made myself some supper: a toasted bacon, tomato, potato and lettuce sandwich. It was a bit messy to eat, but extremely yummy.
That was kind of cool, too.
