This is Fall? And other Trivia

If this is what fall is going to be like, I'm going to need a lackey to keep waving a fan over my head. It was sooo hot today! The humidity was off the charts; it felt like I was in a tropical rainforest. I was way overdressed for it, jeans were just sticking to me and my feet were swimming in my rubber boots. Whoah. I'm sure it was an anomaly, and soon we'll be moaning about all the rain and fog and stuff. Still, hot!
I stayed out at the farm last night, as I normally do on Thursdays, so we could get an early start to the work today. It was a fun evening; Sue and I went out for dinner, then came back and fed and watered the horses at 7, and then watched a movie on her giant TV: The King's Speech. I loved it. Great character study, wonderful acting and a moving story. Kind of reinforced my feelings that I'd never, ever want to be part of the royal family and live in that kind of fishbowl. (Although I wouldn't mind a little of the royal cash flow, heh)
Got up early this morning, had all the horses out by 9 a.m., and all the stalls cleaned by noon. Everyone was in yesterday because of the torrential rain in the morning, so the stalls were a bit of a mess. Midnight and Kyra were in from the field, and not terribly thrilled about it. When I put them out again today, they raced off to the bottom of the field as fast as they could. Midnight has lost one of his shoes somehow, I think probably the other day when he got really silly and was galloping around. Good thing the farrier is coming to do his shoes on Monday; he's a bit lopsided with only one shoe!
I was home by 4:30 this afternoon. Wasn't too inspired but needed to eat something good for supper, so I whipped up a new variation on the pork chop in honey garlic sauce I made the other day: this one had chopped dried figs, diced mystery squash (the one that is growing on the manure pile, which I think might be vegetable marrow), broccoli and the chop, all sauteed in butter and then simmered in the honey garlic black bean sauce. OMG. It was so good! I may have outdone myself there. I found myself making little mmm-mmm sounds as I ate. It's good to enjoy one's food, eh?
Caught the last half of the second episode of The Secret Circle, and I'm still intrigued. Haven't had a chance to watch this week's Glee or Ringer, but I think I'll get there tomorrow. Just saw an interview with Maggie Q about the coming season of Nikita, which starts on Sunday night on Space. I'm pretty much caught up with the final episodes of last season: I taped the last 3, and finally managed to watch them. The trouble with taping shows is that if I don't watch them right away, I get a back log and never seem to catch up. I just don't have a lot of time for TV watching at the moment, too much else to do.
Think I'll go have a nice bubble bath...
