Summertime!
Jul. 30th, 2011 09:19 pmFinally, it feels like summer. 'Bout time, I say. I was even sweating a bit this afternoon; hasn't been warm enough to make me do that in awhile.
I was up early this morning, got stuff done. I treated myself to some fresh BC cherries and some local blueberries since I need to up my fruit intake some. I don't always remember to eat fruit, so when things I like are in season, I try to make a point of indulging. The blueberries that grow here aren't like the wild blueberries I remember from my childhood (those were low bush with sky blue berries, a favourite of the black bears in the area). I remember that we always had to keep a lookout for bears when we were out berry picking back home...at least there aren't any bears in my local produce store, LOL.
I picked some lettuce and radishes from my poor neglected garden. The weeds have taken over most of the garden, which pains me greatly. I just didn't have the time to plant the garden this year, even if the weather had co-operated. Just a few rows of salad greens, better than nothing. But everytime I look at the garden I feel so guilty! I feel like I should have made the effort. Still, I guess I could plant stuff for a fall harvest. Maybe I'll do that. If I have time..I've just been so busy and distracted by all the other stuff going on these past few months. Ah, well. There's always next year.
The fireworks competition starts tonight. I expect I'll be hearing a lot of bangs and booms soon; too bad I can't see anything from my apartment. I'm too lazy to get myself down to the nearest viewpoint tonight..maybe I'll watch it on the computer. One of the CTV stations is streaming it live. Somehow that just seems so wrong.
I'm watching (sort of) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I still have to watch the first half of The Deathly Hallows, and find time to go see the next part in the theatre.
