My Monday

It's been a quiet day here, a time to take five minutes just for me. My day off. I got up in time to be at the massage therapist's at 10, and I have to say that it's been a highlight of my week. Even when it hurts, the massage is just one of the few times when I just lie there and do nothing. I concentrate on feeling the tension leaving the muscles and trying to stay relaxed. My mind wanders off in all sorts of strange directions, just kind of free falling, and I let it go. Three massages so far, and I think I'm seeing some results; my neck is still tight and sore, but less so, and I have a bit more mobility. All very good things, but there's lots more to work on. I wish I could afford more than one visit a week, but even that is better than nothing. I do get some of the fee back from my extended health coverage, but it's a bit of a hassle to do the paperwork.

After the massage, I stopped at the produce store and bought some fresh cherries and vegies for dinner, then I went home and relaxed for an hour or so with coffee and the paper. At noon I went for a walk with my friend Jill and her Bassett hound Judd. We went down to Jericho beach and walked through the woods there; it was lovely, sunny and cool, and the woods were green and quiet. Judd even managed to have a little run (he tends to be more of a stopandsniff kind of dog, lol). After the walk Jill and I went across the street from their store and had tea at a little cafe and got caught up on the news of our lives. I've been so busy I am afraid friends other than the ones at the farm have been a bit neglected on my part.

This afternoon I had a nap, walked up to the supermarket to get some groceries, then made dinner. I cooked a very nice pork loin, stuffed with plums and basted with a blackbean honey garlic sauce, totally tasty and very tender. I had fresh corn on the cob from the Fraser Valley, and new potatoes. Dessert was a big handful of beautiful cherries and a cup of tea.

I made mac and cheese for tomorrow's dinner.

I'm still waiting for my car; the shop called today and said the engine was in, and tomorrow they would start work on all the stuff they have to do with it. I have the courtesy car, so I don't mind. In fact, I'd be quite happy to trade them for it! But I don't think they'd go for it without an additional 20 grand or so...LOL.

Oops, gotta go. Sam just horked up a big hairball on the carpet. Yuck.
