A whole day at home with no pressing chores, is a wonderful thing indeed. I took a day for some rest and relaxation out of my busy busy schedule, to keep me from totally burning out. It was a good day for it too, cold and rainy and windy. Felt great just staying inside, reading and drinking tea for most of the morning. I did walk up to the library to get some new reading material, and then up to the grocery store for the fixings for soup. A nice little bit of exercise and fresh air to break up the day.
I made a big pot of soup, using one of those soup mixes of lentils, beans, split peas and barley. Added in carrots, onions, celery and two kinds of mushrooms, and some chopped spinach, and it made a very wholesome and yummy soup. Had it for dinner with some bread and cheese. I have a savory bread pudding in the oven to take out to the farm tomorrow for dinner. The apartment smells delicious.
This is definitely the time of year for good food that warms you up, and makes you thankful for the little comforts of home.
On that note, I want to wish all my American friends out there a very Happy Thanksgiving. I wish you all the joyful comforts of family and home and friends.
