STOP FALLING, will ya?! There's a limit to how many we can rake up every day for cripes' sake.

Hah. Guess what I did today? Yup, lots and lots of raking of leaves. All those trees on the farm are really very pretty, and I love the fall colours, but one wind storm, and it's all a mess on the ground. Although it was just a perfect day for raking today, sunny and mild, no wind at all. I raked all around the big barn, getting the leaves off the drain rock and away from the drain pipes while Sue came behind and shovelled the piles into the wheelbarrow for transport to the compost heap. It's a job we have to do every fall, otherwise the water coming off the barn roof can't drain down into the drainage pipes buried under the drain rock, and there's a big old flooding mess backing up into the barn. So we got it done today, for the most part. There will be a second round, because there are still some leaves left clinging to the trees. Still, it's all good exercise in the fresh air, right? right.

I managed to fix the rip in Midnight's winter blanket (I'm so proud of myself; no seamstress am I). Luckily it was a patch on the edge of the front piece, so it was an easy fix. I used 2-0 silk on a straight needle..figured that if it's strong enough to hold people's insides inside their bodies, it's strong enough to repair a blanket. I didn't have any buttonhole twist thread, you see..had to improvise. Luckily I had some suture material available.. heh. Put his blanket back on, so he's all warm and snug again. Hopefully he won't rip it again. Now I have to fix Kyra's warm winter blanket before I put it on; there's a tear on the inside, and some of the stuffing is leaking out. She's fine in the lighter weight winter blanket for now, but since she's old and thin skinned, I like to keep a heavier blanket on her. We put a blanket on Dusty, our three year old; she just stood there and didn't bat an eye when we put it on. Just like she'd been wearing a blanket for years, instead of it being the first time! she's a very cool horse, totally unflappable. I showed Rochelle her blanket, rubbed it over her neck and kind of laid it on her back, just to get her a bit used to it. Going to put it on her on Friday.

It was a gorgeous fall day, and the sunset was quite beautiful..it just comes way too early these days.

Got home, had dinner, watched a little TV: Glee and Dancing with the Stars. The three couples in the final are the ones I predicted would be there.

Now it's time to organize some food for tomorrow. It's off to work I go, heyho.
