After getting totally soaked yesterday, I realized I needed better rain gear. Looks like we're going to make up for all those days of dryness big time this weekend.

This afternoon after we got all the horses in and fed Sue and I went in to Aldergrove to check out Marks Workwearhouse. We're both now the happy owners of great waterproof jackets. I bought a bright blue and black thigh length jacket with hood and lots of pockets and zippers and stuff. It's light and comfy and best of all it wasn't a lot of money. I'm going to buy some rainpants too. Working outside in wet weather is a lot easier if you're warm and dry.

We had a nice dinner at WhiteSpot. On our way back to the farm we saw a big tan coloured dog running down the middle of the road in the rain. There wasn't anyone around, and the poor thing looked lost. I stopped the car and we waited to see if she would come back. She came right up to the car, so I got out and grabbed hold of her collar to see if there was any ID. There was a dog license, but no other ID. We talked about what to do, and while we were talking the doggy just looked at me and then jumped into the back seat of my car! She sat down and just seemed to make herself at home. We drove over to the Langley Animal Shelter, and luckily they were open. They put her license number into the computer, and found her owners, so she will be reunited with her family. She was obviously a loved dog, because she was in great shape, and very trusting and sweet. Her name, BTW, is Shadow.
It was a great way to end the day.

I have to work tomorrow in ICU..darn. For some reason I didn't remember that I'd booked the shift until Sue and I were talking over dinner...I said something about coming out to the farm tomorrow and she said "but you're working!" Oops. Good thing I write my hours on the calendar at the farm as well as at home. I totally forgot to write the day on my home calendar. I would have been really annoyed if I slept in and they had to call me.

Have to go get my lunch ready. I made a pot of corn and black bean soup. Getting to be soup making weather again.
