WHAT? You want me to move What?
Oct. 24th, 2012 08:08 pmWalked out of my apartment this afternoon to go to the laundry room and found a letter from my idiot landlord on my doorstep. To paraphrase, it seems there's been issues with water leaking into the shops downstairs, they think from a faulty membrane under the patio covering. The solution is probably going to be to rip up the cement and replace the membrane. Okay, I get the importance of fixing the problem, but did you have to wait until the rainy season started? I mean, this has been going on for more than two weeks. However..you want me to move all the planters on the patio by next Monday? Really? Ummm, I have actual trees in big planters out there! They weigh a lot! I'm strong, but I'm not Superwoman. I did move all the pots and planters I could lift to my front balcony this afternoon. The patio looks really empty. I think I may take this opportunity to move the plants I plan to take out to the farm when I finally move there; my roses and my fig tree, and my lavender. The roses need to be repotted anyway, and instead of just switching planters, I'm going to dig them out of the planters and put them in the ground at the farm. Still, I'm not thrilled about having to do it all in the next four days, two of which I'm working a 12 hour shift. I'll do what I can, but I think I'm going to need help.
Today was my get things done day at home. I went to my tire place and got my winter tires put on the car; I figured I'd do it before the rest of the city decided to get in line ahead of me. One job off the list.
Stopped in at a discount shoe store near the tire shop. I need new shoes big time. I hate, hate, hate shopping for shoes. Of course I couldn't find anything. Tried on a cute pair of boots which fit, but when I walked in them I found the heels were set on in such a way that my ankles felt like they were turning in. Damn. Did I mention I hate shoe shopping?
Did some grocery shopping to restock my empty fridge. I went hogwild and indulged in some really delicious blue cheese (which cost more than a good steak! OMG) and some sun dried olives from the Cheese store next to the Veggie store. There was so much yummy looking stuff in there I had to force myself to leave. Also bought myself a small piece of chocolate swirl cheesecake, which I plan to have with my tea in about 5 minutes.
I made a tasty beef stew. Cooked it in the oven for a couple of hours and it was perfect for a hungry person's dinner. I also made a pot of butternut squash soup. It's getting to be homemade soup time of year.
Time for a cup of tea and some cheesecake! And maybe a couple of ibuprofen for the backache I developed moving all those planters.
