Hi! I'm Buddy, I'm one and a half years old, and I'm going to be a jumping horse when I grow up...I think. Today my pal Teddy and I were horsing around (haha!) in our paddock when Teddy pushed me into the fence and the electric wire zapped me on the bum. Boy oh boy, I jumped so high I jumped clean over the gate...and there I was, standing on the nice grassy lawn. FREEDOM! Off to explore. Why is Mom yelling for Aunty Jane? How come she's trying to sneak up on me with that rope? I'm only trotting around the barn, going to visit the girls..hey girls, whatcha doing? Can I sniff your nose? Oops, Mom almost got me. Down the road I go, round the barn, check out that big hole! don't think I'll jump down there, maybe I won't get out. That's a big old machine there, at least it's not making all the growly noise today.
Hey, Aunty Jane, I see you! Hey, Teddy, don't freak out, I'm coming over. Darn, Mom caught me. Oh well, at least I get a nice hay cube.
It was kind of fun, but I did get a little scared when I couldn't see Teddy. He's my BFF, you know.

It was pretty much like that, only with a little more holy crap how are we going to catch him kind of feeling. I was in the big barn, heard the crash, and then Sue called me to come quickly. It took us about 20 minutes to catch him; we'd get close and then he'd trot away. Teddy had partly pulled off his halter too, so we had to be careful we didn't pull it off the other ear. The girls were all really quiet, and nice to him. No-one squealed or tried to kick him or race around her paddock or anything. Luckily it was a day when the construction crew wasn't there, so no big trucks, and the gate was closed. We finally got him by ignoring him and going up to Teddy in their paddock; Buddy got tired of being on his own, and came over, and Sue managed to grab him and hold him so I could get the lead rope on and fix his halter. OMG. We weren't expecting that to happen, and of course it was during the sleet shower..

Well, we know he can jump! Really pretty mover too, which we could see as he trotted around with his tail all flagged. He wasn't crazy, didn't race, just had a good trot round. We got the two of them into their stalls, then brought all the other horses in. Then we went in and had a restorative cup of tea.

Buddy's great adventure ended well. Thank heavens!

How high is your version of "high"? I make my fences about 48" to 50" high, er, for easy conversion = 122 cm to 127 cm. I have to admit that more recent fences are higher!
