Dashing through the snow...
Dec. 18th, 2012 10:03 pmIn a one horse Honda sleigh,
O'er the roads I go,
Cursing all the way.
Windshield wipers squeal,
I need nerves of steel,
All because it snowed,
And made drivers yell
"Hey!"
Oh, idiots are on the road,
Making things look bad,
O'er the bridge I go,
Cursing all the way!
Hee. That was pretty much what I went through this morning on my way to the farm. I didn't listen to the news, so I didn't know about the huge traffic jams on the roads this morning because it snowed here on the Lower Mainland last night. Not a huge amount, just enough to make the roads really dangerous.
Mostly it was the black ice; there were lots of traffic accidents because people were not prepared for it, and because many people here just have no idea how to drive in winter conditions. I have good snow tires, and I'm a careful driver, so I don't worry about my driving...it's all those other folks out there, like the guy who cut across three lanes of traffic in front of me, stopped on the shoulder and then backed up the on ramp, causing drivers coming down the ramp some difficulty!
Things were much better out towards the farm; they didn't get the snow. It took me 2 hours to get there, so Sue and I postponed the outing we had planned to the new Dog&Pony Tack store for another day.
The builders were there but not for as long today. The concrete footings are poured, so the really messy part of the work should be finished by the end of the week. The hardest part is getting around all the cars parked all over the place so we can do our work. It's getting really exciting, seeing things happening. The architect has made some preliminary drawings for the new house, and my apartment is going to be beautiful, and I'm going to have my very own garage! We have a big year ahead of us.
Lots to look forward to.
