Happy New Year!!
Dec. 31st, 2012 09:26 pmI'm celebrating with a bag of chips and a cup of tea. I'm sort of watching the New Year's bash on CTV..some band I don't know is playing, people in the audience are waving their cell phones, Woot! I'm such a party animal. I may even stay awake long enough to see the new year in, but then again, I've been awake since 5 a.m., worked a 12 hour shift that felt like 24, and then caught the bus home. Lots of folks all dressed up heading to parties, taking advantage of the free transit tonight. I hope they all have a great time; I'm having a very nice time here myself, comfortably dressed in my flannel jammies.
I'm not a maker of resolutions per se; I invariably break any I do make, so I resolve just to take life as it comes, and not sweat the small stuff. This last year was for the most part a good one, much better than the one before, and I have every hope that 2013 will continue the upward trend.
In 2012, I officially joined the ranks of the old age pensioners; I turned 65. I feel pretty good about that; I'm in fine shape, still have lots of energy and the ability to work hard, and honestly, I feel about 35 most of the time. I do have the odd aches and pains that tell me I'm not as young as I think I am, but really, I feel fortunate to feel as good as I do.
I still have to work more than I'd really like to, to keep my finances in good order. Keeping all my horses going is not any cheaper, but things out at the farm are progressing nicely, and our bottom line looks a whole lot better at the end of the year than it did at the start. We've paid off the mortgage, and started building; the new house should be finished by the end of next summer, so this is the last New Year's for me in this apartment. Next year is going to be exciting, I'm sure.
All the horses are healthy and the young ones are growing up and making us really proud and optimistic about their futures. With all the disruptions and noise of building, they'll all be totally bomb proof by the time we start riding them! Teddy and Buddy are continuing to amaze us with their ability to take all the chaos in stride.
I consider myself a very lucky person, here at the tag end of 2012. I'm healthy, happy, in better financial shape than I was last year, I have good friends and lots of things to look forward to next year, including keeping up with all my friends online.
I wish you all the very best life has to offer in 2013; happiness and health especially.
