midnightsjaneI had a lovely day yesterday. Cleaned up the apartment, did some grocery shopping and then cooked up a storm. The kitchen looked like a whirlwind had hit it by the time I was done. I had chili going on the stove, lasagna in the oven, and the fixings for my potato, leek and mushroom pie ready to put into the pie crust when the lasagna was done. The place smelled divine. I had lasagna for dinner, and then cleaned up the kitchen mess. Now I have dinner for the week, and I took Sue some of each dish, so she has dinner too. We're all so busy, it's nice to have something yummy ready to just heat and serve at the end of the day.
I watched my TV shows, and it was an entirely satisfying day off. Just one day to myself makes all the difference; now I'm ready for the rest of the week.
I have three shifts in ICU starting tomorrow.
We had our Veterinarian out today to vaccinate all the horses. They've managed to combine several vaccines in one shot, which is nice for the horses, and nice for us..we don't have to keep calling him back to do more shots. In March he's coming back to do everyone's teeth, so that's going to be a very full day! He took some blood from Kyra, to check her TSH levels. She's an old mare, and her thinness might be partly due to hypothyroidism, which is quite common. It's certainly not that she isn't getting enough to eat! She gets a big scoop of Senior grain, and a bucketful of alfalfa hay cubes for her bedtime snack, and all the hay she can eat, so it's not the food. She's healthy and alert, just thin. We also talked about which of the girls to breed this spring; we've decided to breed Dusty and Rochelle, our four going on five year olds. It's nice to have two babies, because then they have a friend . We'll see.
Oh, I just realized I've missed a new Castle. Darn. Guess I'll see it online, which I can do because my fancy new laptop actually does that kind of thing!! :P
Anyhow, I'm heading off to bed early. Got my chamomile tea, and my book..I'm just about done the new Mercedes Lackey book in her Valdemar series, Redoubt.

Date: 2013-01-08 09:42 am (UTC)As to TV, I saw some of tonight's Castle, because the College Football championship game turned out to be a complete blowout. I still have to watch last night's "The Good Wife"
First, though, I've got to go to the orthopedist. Tripped coming off a cracked sidewalk curb and sprained my ankle something fierce. Unless it's worse than a sprain.
