Another hot summer day. Woke up to the sound of machinery outside my bedroom window - the guys were there taking the old waterproof membrane off the patio. I heard one of them likening the process to scaling a fish. Glad I don't have to do either thing, LOL.
The new barn is almost done. The carpenter was hanging the doors in the apartment today, the wood is on the ceiling and looks fantastic, the first coat of paint is done, and it's all really beautiful. It should be ready for Sue and Jack to move in by September. The applications for the building permits went to the city, and hopefully it won't take more than 6 or 8 weeks for them to be approved, and then work can start on the new house. In the meantime, the builders are going to spruce up the small barn. We're putting in windows (like half doors) in all the stalls in the small barn, so Buddy and Teddy will have a window to the outside world when they're in their stalls. Kandance has one, and she loves to hang her head outside and watch the world go by. We're also putting a new roof on the barn.
I've started working with Kyra doing a little bit of work on the lunge, to see if she can build up a little muscle. She looks a lot better, has put on some weight, but she's lost a lot of her muscle because she's not been doing anything much. She's such a good girl, really tries. It's a bit hard for her going with her blind side toward me on the circle because she can't see me, but we're figuring it out. Everyone on the farm loves the old girl, for sure.
I'm watching the Amazing Race Canada right now. They're up in the Yukon. Spectacular scenery.
