I can't believe it's nearly over, 2013. Mixed bag of a year, but I'm not going to do the year roundup tonight. Just kind of catching up with the post Christmas posting. I did have a lovely Christmas Day, despite the previous weeks' litany of bad things. I made up my mind that I wasn't going to let it all make me a gloomy gus over Christmas; and I found that it really helped to focus on the happy moments.

I've been enjoying reading the Chris Hadfield autobiography Sue and Jack gave me. He is such an inspiration, and his approach to life is pretty amazing: find out what you want to do with your life, set a goal, and work hard to get there. Really interesting guy; a bit of a Renaissance man. I wanted to be an astronaut when I was young, but I had no idea what that entailed.

I finally subscribed to Netflix. Watched The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel last night, and loved it. Judi Dench is truly amazing; what a role model for the older woman. How to age gracefully; she wrote the book on that.

Worked a day shift in CCU today. Nice, uneventful day. I'm working nights tomorrow, so I will actually be awake at midnight! I never have been a big fan of New Year's Eve celebrations. It just seems like everyone is working terribly hard to have "fun". So I'm just as happy to be working.

Just had a phone call from my sister, who lives back in Ontario. Luckily for her, they live in an area not affected by the terrible ice storm, near Ottawa. I really feel for everyone who has spent the holidays in the cold and dark. I certainly am not going to whine about the little bit of cold and rain we've had!

I haven't made any major resolutions so far. Still thinking about it.
