Summer is back!
Jul. 24th, 2012 09:15 pmAfter a bunch of rainy and cool days here, the sun came out again, as it usually does. Not super hot, but by mid afternoon it was getting there. I had to walk all the way down to the bottom of the field to put Kyra's fly sheet on her, and I could just feel the humidity rising up from the grass.
Kyra and Midnight are having a great time out there. I gave them both a good grooming and spray with fly spray, and put some zinc oxide on Midnight's pink nose.
I took Rochelle out for some grass, too. It was a lovely peaceful moment for me and my youngster. I need to take time with her, and start getting her ready for riding. I don't plan to start her until the fall, and then only very lightly. By next spring she'll be mature enough to start.
Spent a little time weeding the flower garden, getting rid of those darned buttercups. They're pretty little flowers in their own right, but they sure are invasive. Weeding around the lavender was a lovely aromafest for my nose; I am a big fan of lavender.
Not much else of note today. I worked in ICU yesterday and the day before, had a very sick patient so the days went by in a flash. Have another shift tomorrow. We're experiencing a bit of a slowdown in ICU as we usually do in July, for some reason. Maybe with the nice weather people are more relaxed and taking better care of themselves, or maybe the various viruses and bacteria are taking a summer break.
I found out yesterday that my only surviving aunt just had a heart attack. My sister said it was a mild one, and my aunt is doing well, but it was a bit upsetting. She's the last of my mother's siblings, and after she goes, my brothers and sisters and I will be the "old ones". That makes me pause and wonder a bit.
I just had a very delicious bowl of white chocolate raspberry ice cream. It's a good thing!
