Funny thing, I thought being retired would give me all sorts of time to do stuff..but the longer I've been retired the less time I seem to have! I'm busier now than I was five years ago when I officially retired..strange how that worked out, eh? Keeps me out of trouble, anyway.

I'm way behind in my TV watching because I've been working a bunch of night shifts this past week or so. I still haven't seen last week's episode of Once Upon a Time, although I started to watch it last night and had to stop because I kept dozing off..not because I wasn't interested, just that I was so sleepy. Missed the last episode of Touched and Nikita as well, and Bones this week. I watched the season opener of Dancing With the Stars instead. I'm glad I can watch the shows on my computer because otherwise I'd be forced to get myself a DVR. I've kind of given up on Glee..just lost interest halfway through the season. Often in the evenings I watch a little bit of whatever, but I don't seem to have the time or inclination to sit for hours anymore.

I love it when I find the perfect gift for a friend, it's a rare thing for sure. It was my friend Sue's birthday this week, and she's a difficult person to buy for; I was at a loss until the other day when I had a brilliant idea. She is a huge fan of Downton Abbey, and history, so I bought her a beautiful book on the making of the show and behind the scenes history of the era and culture. It has gorgeous pictures and interesting text, so she was totally thrilled by it. Made me feel very pleased with myself.

It's still super busy out at the farm..workers and trucks and all sorts of construction business. It can get pretty noisy too. The barn is looking just fabulous. Sue, Jack and I were upstairs this afternoon checking it out. Now that the roof is done, the inside is dry and you can really see the bones of the place fleshing out. It's going to be so gorgeous.

It's spring officially now, and of course we had a bit of a hail storm this afternoon! Just for a few minutes, but it was a surprise for sure. Otherwise it was a lovely day. We had the barn work to do, Kelly having the day off. With Jack there to help (he emptied the wheelbarrows while we cleaned the stalls) we flew through the work, finished all the stalls by noon. Now it's getting on for 10 p.m. and I'm thinking about an early night. Have to get up for work in the morning.

This weekend is the first horse show of the season, and Goldie is going. Hopefully she'll do well. She's been in training all winter, and is jumping everything in sight, so fingers crossed!

Got a call from my sister this evening to tell me that our Uncle Jack is planning a birthday party for Aunt Ruth, just for the family. That means my sisters and brothers and spouses, and me. Aunt Ruth is the last of my Mother's siblings, and our only remaining aunt, and she's getting on in years. I really want to go. It's not until the last week in June, so I've got time to plan the trip and try to get a cheap flight to Toronto. A real family reunion, so I am determined not to miss it.

Well, I'm about babbled out for now.
